Journal #6

            After watching the film Front of the class, which was a very inspiring movie to watch. An educator is a person who can not only teach but also be able to sympathize with their students and be able to adapt their teaching styles to help their students learn. As a teacher is the profession most people would consider an educator to students in a school building, but an educator can be anyone if they have the expertise and the willingness to teach their student. In the movie, Brad had a disability called Tourette's Syndrome that caused him to make weird funny noises unintentionally. This disability caused him to be mistreated by the teachers as they thought he was fooling around and caused his dad to mistreat and give up on his son’s future. However, he does not let this disability take over his dreams as a teacher even though he was rejected 24 times he never gave up and was able to become a successful teacher. This shows that by always trying your best anyone can make their weakness their strength like Brad.


            A teacher that impacted me was probably my after school teacher. He was a college student, so I was much more comfortable talking to him than any other of my teachers in high school. He was a very hardworking person and inspired me to try my best with my school work. Also, he faced many difficulties such as being a non-US citizen, so he had to pay his tuition on his own and study for his accounting degree. However, even with all these struggles he always tried his best to help us and would make jokes all the time to get us to become more relaxed around him. Also, in his class I was a very shy person, but he would always try to make me talk and help me develop my social skills. I admire this person as he was a genuine person who wanted to help others even though he may have his own troubles to worry about.

Reflection for annotated bibliography

            The annotated bibliography for my topic “War on Drugs” was a very interesting and expansive topic that can connect to many things. When looking for information I was aware of some of the controversial things and the general idea of the war on drugs. Therefore, there were some things that surprised me and therefore expanded my knowledge such as most of the victims is people of color when the U.S population is mostly white. The Unwinnable War Abstract My topic is the “war on drugs” and I wish to inform my audience to the pros and cons to this situation. My motives for researching this topic was mostly because I had some background knowledge of this topic and wished to share my knowledge of it. Also, some of my closest friends are addicted to drugs and I want to learn how we are handling drugs. Also, this topic has always piqued my interest because of the it reeked with unfairness as the U.S government continues to imprison many people for drugs. Reflection 10

In the passage” From Prison to Ph.D.: The Redemption and Rejection of Michelle Jones” is about a woman who may be redeeming for her mistakes. This article is about a woman named Michelle Jones who killed her son “accidentally” and was sent to prison. She spent two decades in prison, but sought to educate herself. In the harshest environments she was able to educate herself and eventually made a research paper. Currently, she was able to get out of jail and is now in NYU who is working to get her PHD. Also, she is willing to help people by teaching in NYU’s prison education program.             This article goes to show that anyone could be at the lowest point, but they all can redeem themselves and help society.
