Journal Entry #5
During Professor Sean O’Heir lesson I learned a vast amount of information about our school library. There were many resources that he rose awareness of to us such as the databases and books from the library that are online. First off, he showed us at least three to four databases which was very useful because I only knew one database that had a wide amount of information which was Ebsco. The databases that he showed us were called Gale virtual reference library, One search, and Jstor. In his class, he let us try these databases and showed us the many functions that these databases also had. For example, in the side of each article they would show all the information of the article and would even have a completed MLA citation there which is very helpful if we ever need a citation for that certain article. Since, he helped us realize the many resources our Cuny website had. I immediately used this vast amount of information and databases to help me extend my research for my exploratory essay. These databases will also help me with other essays or research papers that I might have to write in the future.
Also, Professor Sean O’Heir helped us use the cuny library more efficiently. He showed us that we can search up books in the City college of New York online library. By using this site we can find books in our library more easily and we can borrow these books directly for our essays or research paper. Also, these libraries are a suitable place to study and type up any writing assignment. Therefore, next time when I need a computer I would be going to the computer lab to type up an assignment or even borrow a book for my assignment. In conclusion, Professor Sean O’Heir taught us a wide variety of information and resources I never realized.
