Reflection to Exploratory final
My draft unexpectedly had many mistakes especially sentence structures and grammatical errors. I identified these mistakes more easily with the help of the proofread from both my friends and instructor. I had to reread my essay multiple times because some sentences did not make sense or to check if I needed any commas. I had many run-on sentences which forced me to make sure I placed the correct words and commas. Also, I had many minor errors such as having an unfinished quote because I did not have a signal phrase with it. Also, my original title “Energize our bodies” was not very interesting for a reader, therefore I changed it into a more intriguing title “Secrets of The Miracle Beverage”. These were some of the minor issues I worked on for my essay.
To continue, some other issues were that my essay lacked transitions and some of my paragraphs were unfocused. For example, my third paragraph had multiple different ideas and it only confused the reader. Also, many of my paragraphs were very choppy as I started most of my paragraphs with “Coffee” and could’ve instead used transitions to make my essay smoother. Finally, to ensure that my essay was completely free of any other grammatical errors, I went to the writing center to get it checked by another teacher. The tutor in the writing center helped me understand some other mistakes that I did not notice and helped me fix them. To conclude, now I feel more confident in my exploratory essay and I believe that I can raise my score from a B+.
